Fire Truck from the Circuit des Ardennes-Winning Brand
Presented in Wonderful Unrestored Condition
Formerly Part of the Schlumpf Reserve Collection
Founded in 1896 as an automotive branch of French locomotive manufacturer De Dietrich, Automobiles Lorraine-Dietrich enlisted a young Ettore Bugatti to build an innovative four-cylinder-powered automobile at the turn of the century. The company would go on to produce racing cars earning a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finish at the 1906 Circuit des Ardennes race.
This Lorraine-Dietrich Fire Truck was purchased by the Mullin Collection in 2008 as part of the famed Schlumpf Reserve Collection acquisition. As Lorraine-Dietrich had a factory in Alsace, France, where the Schlumpf Collection was started, it is possible that the fire truck was in the town from its manufacture until the Mullin Collection’s acquisition. With the only other known example residing in the French Musée National de l'Automobile, the opportunity to acquire a fire truck such as this will surely not come again soon.
